Initial Firearms
INITIAL FIREARMS is a 2-day course (Monday AND Tuesday) which covers the Dept. of Consumer Affairs guidelines for carrying and using a firearm. 1st day is in the classroom and the 2nd day classroom and, at the range.
What you will need to bring on the first day of class:
1) Proof of citizenship (Real ID is NOT proof of citizenship)

-Certificate of Naturalization
-Certificate of USA Citizenship Certificate of Birth Abroad issued by the Dept of State

5) Bring PSI Assessment form (Passing)

Powers to Arrest/Mass Destruction
(Guard Card)
GUARD CARD is a 1 day course which covers the administration of the 44 questions exam. We will provide the BSIS guard card registration forms and the Livescan Fingerprinting forms. This is an open-book test utilizing the "Powers to Arrest" training manual. (Monday - Friday)

Baton
The BATON course covers the Dept. of Consumer Affairs guide-lines for carrying and using the "Straight/Side-Handle & Expandable" Baton. Certificate is issued by the state of California. (Please check calendar for availability)
Initial Baton Class: $100

Tear Gas and Pepper Spray
The TEAR GAS and PEPPER SPRAY course involves watching a 30 minute video and 30 questions exam. TEAR GAS or PEPPER SPRAY permit is issued after successful completion of exam. (Please check calendar for availability)

ECW (Electronic Control Weapons) / Stun Gun
This course involves watching a 40 minute video and 50 questions exam. Certificate is provided after successful completion of exam. ( Please call for availability)

Handcuffing
Handcuffs are a temporary restraining device. The student will be shown and will demonstrate to the satisfaction of the instructor, techniques of applying handcuffs to a suspect about to be, or who has been arrested. (Must be a minimum of two students registered for this class)

Handgun Safety Certificate
To certify you must obtain a passing grade of 75% (23 correct answers on a 30 question multiple choice exam.) You may take the exam twice if needed. Certificate is provided after successful completion of exam. (Please call for availability)

Firearms Requalification
Holders of a BSIS Firearms License must REQUALIFY 4 times in a 2 year period, no less than 4 months apart, and no more then 6 months apart.
There are additional costs for additional calibers. All range fees and ammunition costs are the responsibility of the student. (Please call for availability)
Class Fee: $50 First caliber, additional $10 per caliber there after
CCW-California
Initial Class Fee: $400
This class is a 16 hour course, authorized through the Alameda County Sheriff’s Dept. It will cover particular laws and liabilities as well as the safety of handling and operation of firearms. A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of the course. (Alameda County Residence Only)
Renewal Class (8 Hours) : $200
Additional Training for Security Guards
32 hour Security Training Class as required by Assembly Bill (AB) 2880. Certification for Community College Campuses, In House Employers and Private Patrol Companies.
